Affordable Net Zero Rental Townhomes in Chestermere, Alberta
Sol Verde at South Shore in Chestermere will be home to 64 Net Zero and Net Zero Ready townhomes certified by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA) Net Zero Home Labelling Program. When complete, this will be the largest Net Zero multi-family community in Southern Alberta.
These CMHC-approved affordable rental housing units will be a welcome addition to the local rental market for families and for those who require barrier-free or wheelchair accessible homes.
On Thursday, September 8, 2022, we had the pleasure of kicking off the project with a ground breaking event with local dignitaries, our builder and other special interest groups.
64 Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp (CMHC) approved affordable rental housing units.
Solar power is utilized to its maximum extent to achieve Net Zero and Net Zero Ready homes.
Many units will have accessible features and some townhomes are barrier free. Leasing available for March 2024.
There is no natural gas used in the development. Heat pumps are used for heat and air conditioning.
32 units are 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom family townhouses that will be available to lease in March 2024.
The development is connected to the electrical grid for heat and power not supplied by the solar panels.
With the barrier free housing; a Multi Generation community can be maintained and even enhanced by allowing seniors and those with physical challenges to continue to live in their communities without having to move to a seniors’ facility.
